As per mentioned in the 2017 Policy Address by Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam, Smart City projects will be an immense focus in developing Hong Kong moving forward.
Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA) held a conference last week on connected cities and how the Internet of Things (IoT) will pave the way forward to a ‘smarter’ Hong Kong. Essentially, the conference provided a space for industry leaders to connect and exchange valuable insights on how technology can enhance livability and how urban data space can be governed in a sustainable and inclusive manner.
Besides Motherapp, other industry leaders present at the conference include Siemens, ZTE, China Telecom and more. As the gold sponsor for the conference, Motherapp’s CEO Ken Law was invited as a panel member to share his insights on ‘5G & IoT networks’. He also shared about our crowd management technology (PowerArena) that supports smart city initiatives in Kowloon East (KE)- Hong Kong’s pilot area in Smart City testing.
Motherapp has been an active player in the Hong Kong smart city space, with numerous smart city projects delivered with the Hong Kong Government, such as Smart Crowd Management Solution. To better manage massive crowds, the latest IoT and AI technologies were employed through video analytics, allowing event organisers to keep track of people flow in real time.
