Motherapp was born in 2008, inspired by a belief in the positive power of technology. Our name reminds us of our role as the “mother of applications”. Applications meaning integrated software/hardware solutions. In that sense we love our creations, take care of them and bring them up to do real good in the world.

One of our first initiatives was a community-built mobile app for TED Talks. Released long before the official app, we made it simply to help spread great ideas.
In 2011 we were among the first to implement the design-driven agile process followed by most leading developers today. It helped us put User Experience (UX) at the center of our process.
Our 2015 IoT solution for Ocean Park helps millions of visitors spend their time better at the park. It enables staff to be deployed where they are most needed and showed the way for effective real-time crowd management.
The recognition we have won for our work includes the Asia Mobile Awards in Best Mobile App for Enterprise, and Global Champion in the Smart City category for the United Nations initiated World Summit Awards.
Bringing mobile, AI and IoT together for you
In 2017 the Alpha Go artificial intelligence application beat the world’s best Go champion. This was a milestone year for AI, and for Motherapp, as we launched our data driven solutions.
We believe IoT, mobile and AI will transform sectors previously untouched by technology. Our smart environment applications make cities and factories and other spaces safer, and more transparent and efficient.
Our smart customer engagement applications make brand/customer interactions much more personal and meaningful. To make the technology easy to benefit from, in 2018 we launched our dedicated customer engagement platform Aillia.
Technology is ever evolving. We promise to continue our ongoing quest to carefully identify, experiment, and apply new technology meaningfully to continuously bring value to our society in the best way that we know how.

The idea for our company is conceived by original Google team member, Ken Law after seeing the potential of iPhone apps
Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Motherapp, Ken came from a background of computer science from HKUST and a masters from Stanford University.
Before setting up Motherapp in Hong Kong, Ken was a Silicon Valley original, and part of Google’s early team of only a hundred staff. There, he developed a patented algorithm to find associated webpages and a sentiment analysis based on big data. Upon his return to Hong Kong in 2008, he started Motherapp – a pioneer in mobile app development, before Android devices even existed.
Ken is the Young Entrepreneur Award Winner of the prestigious Hong Kong Business Awards in 2016. Now, he is leading the company to greater heights in applied artificial intelligence and data analytics for several industries, covering retail, manufacturing and public sectors in Hong Kong and Greater Asia.
As our Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Hang is an entrepreneur through and through. While in high school, he founded his first company in web development in 2000. With a first class in computer science, and a masters of philosophy in computer science and engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hang was the first to join forces with Ken as Motherapp’s initial team.
From his early days as a software engineer, Hang oversaw Motherapp’s first few mobile app projects to great success. Today, the company’s engineering, data science and QA departments are all spearheaded by Hang. During his time off, Hang also leads a youth fellowship group at his church and is active in his community.
Before joining Motherapp, Hau-Man was a founding member of Google North America’s sales team in 2000. During his eight years stint at Google, Hau-Man was instrumental in establishing Google’s AdWords advertising network in North America.
He then went on to pioneer Google’s operations in the Asia Pacific region, where he brought in strategic partners to support Google’s growing number of users and advertisers. With a BBA degree from Carnegie Mellon University, Hau-Man now brings his unique skillset to the Motherapp management team.
At Motherapp, Hau-Man oversees our strategic business development, overseas markets and administration operations. He spends his time off work exploring new cities and enjoying a good film on the weekends.
Director of Digital Innovation at Motherapp, Alan’s experience comes from corporate sales, consulting and management positions in the telecommunications and digital technology sector.
Prior to Motherapp, he was the founding member and GM of APAC in a European fintech startup, specialising in digital solutions for the offshore finance industry.
At Motherapp, Alan is responsible for the smart city initiatives, overseeing advisory, sales, marketing, partnership and project implementation, as well as collaborating with government bodies and regulators to drive Smart City development in Hong Kong – including the Government’s first smart city project deployment and multiple award-winning smart city projects.
Motherapp’s Director of Operations and Head of Project Management & Delivery, Arthur has been with Motherapp since 2015, and has overseen over 30 client projects.
Before joining Motherapp, Arthur’s strong portfolio saw several successes with internal IT projects in reputable organizations such as PCCW, the Hong Kong Police Force and the MTR corporation.
With his knowledge & practical working experience in project management, he holds the CMMI Level 5 appraisal for PCCW Hong Kong Telecom, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Arthur has also recently completed the Strategic Management Executive Program of Business Process Design at MIT Sloan School of Management.
Magic is our Director of Engineering and the head of Motherapp’s Ningbo office. Having been in the team since 2010, Magic is a capable engineer with a degree in Computer Science and Technology from Hangzhou Dianzi University.
Upon joining Motherapp, he has been handling our major digital projects at local, regional and global levels. In his role as Head of Motherapp’s Ningbo office, he is instrumental in establishing and expanding our operations in the China market.
Now, our Ningbo office covers project management, software engineering, AI application and quality assurance, to support Motherapp’s growing customer base and service offerings in Greater China.
As Motherapp’s Director of Data, Conroy drives our initiatives in data analytics implementation of end-to-end data solution from data infrastructure, ETL, visualization, predictive modeling to digital marketing automation.
A Microsoft Certified Solution Expert (MCSE) in Data Management and Analytics and a Microsoft Certified Solution Associate (MCSA) in Machine Learning, Conroy is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
With over 15 years of experience in retail, wholesale and merchandising, and over 10 years of experience in eCommerce and Digital Marketing, he has extensive experience in data projects for both startups and multinational conglomerates such as A.S. Watson Group, Bank of China Hong Kong and HKTVmall.
